VARIM - Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion Molding
CompDesE facilitate impregnation of composite reinforcements using Vacuum Assisted Resin Infusion Molding (VARIM) unit.
Description: VARIM is a composite production process in a closed mold (bottom) and vacuum bag (top) and belongs beside Resin transfer molding (RTM) to out of the autoclave (OOA) processes.
Mold: two portion of mold tool comprising a solid mold (bottom) and of a vacuum bag (top).
Infusion: a vacuum is used to facilitate resin flow and wet out of the textile reinforcement
Pressure: max. vacuum of 2 mbar (9996 kg/m2) secures high fiber volume fraction (50-60%) in manufactured composite
Curing: room temperature after infusion process, optional post-curing in oven depending on the matrix system.
Production capabilities: small-medium-very large-sized parts that can also be complex
Quality and mechanical properties: aerospace-grade with focus in in the marine, transportation and infrastructure markets.
